Centos 5 Migration

I have been using Centos 4.7 for quite a while. As usual, my itch to use latest version of browser, email client and other software made me drool about upgrading. Even though, I yummed up by 4.7, many of these softwares were asking glibc 4.1.2. One fine morning, I was tempted to do the dreaded, upgrading from 4.x to 5.x. Why Centos? Bcoz, its my work computer. Centos is the distro to be used.
What is my config? I use a Pentium (R) D 3.4 GHz with 4 GB RAM and 160 GB hard disk. I use dual monitor system, driven by NVIDIA GeForce 7300 video card. I am authenticated by NIS and my shares are loaded in NFS using automount.
Why do I migrate?
I miss KDE. I tried upgrading KDE in 4.7 and messed it up. It crashes every ten mins.
Also, I want to use firefox 3.5.
